Planning By Numbers 

Delegates at our Data and Dining event in March 2020 welcomed Hina Mistry, Project Director at the global independent experience company - Imagination. Hina talked to the group about the importance of planning by numbers - using the right metrics to measure and improve the impact of clients’ exhibitions and activations. She shared her experience of supporting clients to create successful stands and how the right numbers drive the decisions.   The big numbers Organisers are the first to use numbers to create the ‘buzz’. “One of the biggest events in the industry”, “Attended by almost all the professionals in the industry” and “This event is the focal point for decision makers in the industry” are frequent claims. But do the big numbers mean anything for you and your return on investment? Similarly, brands’ expectations from their activations often need further analysis and quantification. Hina talks to brands about what success looks like for them. She shared the phrases she often hears -   “Impactful presence wow factor - it’s the biggest event in the industry” “All our competitors will be there - we need to be the most innovative” “The industry to see we are the leaders” “The stand that must be visited”. All need quantifying. Hina shared an example of a recent client and how she used data to help dig deeper and evaluate their existing stand, before making recommendations for the future. Trends in Event Technology

Chris Green from Etherlive spoke at our recent Data and Dining event. Etherlive is an event technology services company working at events of all sizes from pop-ups to exhibitions, festivals and large outdoor sporting events. He updated us on trends in event technology and the impact 5G and Wi-Fi 6 will have on future events and over what time period.  Here are the key points: 5G 5G will be a great technology but it’s not there yet and events are not going to be run off 5G any time soon.  Chris explained that it’s a really complex technology and there are lots of developments still to come.  Going from 4G to 5G is a much bigger step change than from 3G to 4G so it will take time for the full range of functionality to be available. Over the next five to six years it will integrate more closely with Wi-Fi rather than replace it.  In the short term 5G will be of more benefit to event attendees than event organisers. Long term it does have some exciting potential for event organisers.   Wi-Fi 6 Wi-Fi 6 is already here but has been rebranded to make it sound more exciting! Again it is something that is a multi-year evolution and is seeping into the market. Introducing our new Twitter integration

You know that social media is a really important part of successful events and experiential activity.  The more people you can engage in person and online the better. So wouldn’t it be great if you can capture this data all in one place? That's why we've added our new Twitter integration as part of our continuous improvements to our platform. We tested it at the end of last year at Event Tech Live. Along with the data to show the footfall at our stand, the number of engaged visitors, dwell time and more, we can also see data for tweets using the hashtag #ETL19. We can see how event organisers, exhibitors and attendees are talking about the event.                                  You can view the total tweets sent containing your chosen hashtag during the whole event, or view by individual day You can see the number of unique users that tweeted using the hashtags you are following. Our platform also calculates your total potential audience, this is based on the number of followers that each unique user has.    We already know that some of our clients use their event analytics to determine which areas of a stand are most interesting and then use that to determine the stories they put out on social media about the event.  Now you can link your Twitter analytics to your event analytics and get a fuller picture of how attendees are engaging [...]
